A man in his 30s who was acting as a drug supplier in Cork city was jailed for eight years yesterday.

Cork Circuit Criminal Court heard how drugs squad detectives had observed him passing over a bag with drugs to another man.

Gardaí saw Jason Lynch, from The Fairways, Little Island, Co Cork, handing the bag to a man at Leitrim Street in the city on 19 August 2003.

When they stopped the man and searched the bag, they found €10,000 worth of ecstasy, €5,000 worth of cocaine and €3,500 worth of cannabis.

Det John Sheedy told Cork Circuit Criminal Court they found another €10,000 worth of ecstasy in a follow-up search of the rented apartment from where they saw Mr Lynch emerge, bringing the value of the total haul to over €28,000.
