Spanish police are questioning the Irish man who was at the scene of the murder of Patrick Doyle in Spain yesterday afternoon.
Gary Hutch drove the BMW X5 jeep in which 27-year-old Doyle was the passenger. He was shot dead after the jeep crashed into a lamppost.
Meanwhile, the Spanish police say they have arrested seven people in nearby Estapona and seized almost €8m of cocaine.
It is not clear if this is connected to the murder.
Spanish police say they arrested seven people today and recovered 110kg of cocaine.
The drugs were hidden in a truck loaded with furniture in Estapona, which is near where Mr Doyle was shot dead.
Mr Hutch is now being questioned as the Guardia Civil continues to search for Freddie Thompson, the Dublin criminal who was in the back of the jeep.
Neither the gardaí nor the Department of Foreign Affairs could confirm reports from Spain that an Irish person has been arrested in connection with the drugs seizure.
At this stage there is no evidence that the cocaine and the murder of Mr Doyle are linked.
