Minister for Education Mary Hanafin has announced an increase in places on the primary school teaching degree course.
The number of places for potential primary school teachers will leap to 490 this year, that is an extra 210 places on last year.
It is part of a commitment made by the Government to provide an extra 4,000 primary teachers between 2007 and 2012.
Ms Hanafin says she has been encouraged to see more men applying for the course in recent years.
Ms Hanafin is urging CAO applicants to consider applying for the course and reminding them that the closing date for CAO is tomorrow.
