The parents of Sophie Toscan du Plantier have launched a campaign calling for European laws to be harmonised so that the families of murder victims have greater rights.
Ms Toscan du Plantier was murdered near Schull in Cork 11 years ago.
Her body was found two days before Christmas 1996 in the lane leading up to her holiday home in west Cork.
No one has been charged with her murder.
Each year up to now Ms Toscan du Plantier's family has travelled to west Cork to remember her. Today as in other years, her parents laid a wreath at the small Celtic cross that marks the spot where her body was found.
But this year George and Marguerite Bouniol have begun a new campaign.
Lanching what they've called 'The Association for Truth About the Murder of Sophie Toscan du Plantier' they said they wanted the laws around victims rights in murder investigations to be harmonised across Europe.
They say this would allow them acces to the post mortem results and other information on the case.
While gardaí say the investigation into the murder of Ms Toscan du Plantier is ongoing, her family believes that, because they do not have access to the criminal investigation file on the case, 11 years of information remain unknown.
They say their despair will not stop as long as they believe that justice has not been done.
The new Association says that despite the complexities of different legal systems in Europe, everyone should step back and recognise that victms' families have universal rights.
