Welfare - Government accused over lack of progress

The Combat Poverty Agency has accused the Government of making little progress on its tax and welfare commitments made in the Programme for Government.

The agency is holding a research seminar today on the impact of the latest budget.

Jim Walsh, the agency's Head of Research & Policy, has said that although Budget 2008 will help reduce poverty in certain circumstances it will have little or no impact on child poverty.
