A 33-year-old man is to appear before the Dublin District Court tomorrow morning in connection with last night's assault in a pub in Finglas.
A 27-year-old man is in a stable condition in hospital following several hours of surgery after his hand was severed from his arm.
The incident happened at the Deputy Mayor Pub in Finglas.
A row broke out after two men entered the pub in Meakestown in Finglas at around 9.15pm.
One of the men was armed with a sword while the other was holding what is believed to be a hammer.
The injured man was initially brought to the Mater Hospital and later transferred to St James's Hospital. It is not known if his hand was successfully reattached.
