A baby boy has been admitted to hospital following a fire in an apartment block in Co Dublin.

The six-month old boy is being treated at Temple Street Children's University Hospital.

The Garda Press Office says the fire is being investigated but it is not being treated as suspicious.

The alarm was raised at 6.30am this morning. Three units of the fire brigade attended the scene.

The apartment complex at Applewood in Swords was evacuated of its residents until the fire was put out.

The baby boy has been assessed and is now said to be in a stable condition.
