Northern Ireland's Policing Board is to bring in external assessors to review independently all investigations of the Omagh bombings.

The 19 board members agreed the initiative during a five-hour meeting in Belfast yesterday.

In the nine years since the Real IRA killed 29 people and unborn twins in Northern Ireland's worst atrocity, the police have failed to find the dissident republicans responsible for the crime.
