A man was killed in the early hours of this morning when he was struck by a taxi while walking home in Derry.

The man has been named as 25-year-old Andrew Robinson from the Ardmore area of Derry.

The man was walking along the Clooney Road in Greysteel near Derry at 3am when he was hit by a minibus-type taxi.

A PSNI spokesman said it was not a hit-and-run and there were no reports of the driver or his passengers being injured.

Detectives investigating the accident appealed for anyone with information about the death to contact them.
