Two gardaí were wounded in Co Cavan last night after responding to what is believed to have been a domestic incident.
The incident occurred at Dungimmon, Mountnugent at around 8.00pm yesterday.
One garda was treated in Cavan General Hospital having received injuries to his thigh. He has since been released.
The second garda is currently being treated at Cavan General Hospital for what are believed to be abdominal injuries. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
A 39-year-old man arrested in relation to the incident will appear before a special sitting of Cavan District Court at 8pm tonight.
