Ossory Road - Three questioned about shooting

A third man has been arrested in connection with the shooting of a uniformed garda in Dublin in September.

Paul Sherlock, a motorcycle garda, was shot and injured on the morning of 25 September on Ossory Road in North Strand after he stopped a stolen car.

The 30-year-old man was arrested in the north inner city and is being held at Whitehall Garda Station. His arrest is the latest in the investigation after a couple were detained yesterday evening.

The couple, who are both aged 29, were arrested in a car in Clondalkin at around 6.15pm by detectives from Mountjoy who were backed up by the Emergency Response Unit.

The man is now being held at Mountjoy Garda Station and the woman is at Store Street station.

The man arrested last night is also wanted for a number of other alleged drugs and robbery offences and for pointing a gun at a garda in Malahide in a separate incident. He has a number of outstanding warrants.

All three can be questioned for up to three days.
