Irish airlines top list of complaints

watch listen

Irish airlines are the most complained about in Europe for the second year running.

A report from the European Consumer Centre launched in Brussels today reveals that Irish airlines are responsible for 24% of all complaints by airline passengers.

Irish passengers also made more complaints against airlines than any other nationality in Europe, up from seventh place last year.

The main reasons for complaints across Europe are luggage (33%), cancelled flights (26%) and flight delays (16%).

The ECC said the report proves that existing passenger rights' legislation is too vague and is not being properly enforced.

ECC Ireland director Tina Leonard said the report proved not much has changed during the last year and says she is hopeful that this will change in 2008.
