Schools in Dublin's new district of Adamstown say they are facing bankruptcy, possibly in the early part of next year..

Adamstown, along the main Dublin-Kildare railway line, 16km west of Dublin city centre, is the home of a flagship primary education project in Dublin.

But Tom Moriarty, principal of Adamstown Educate Together school, says his school does not have enough funding for basic operating costs.

And Adamstown is not the only place where schools are in trouble. A number of new facilities are saying they cannot make ends meet.

Minister for Education Mary Hanafin says all schools are funded in the same way: capitation grants and ancillary grants.

In the last Budget, education was given the highest ever increase for the day-to-day funding of schools.
