A judge in West Virginia, US, has halted the extradition proceedings of a man wanted in connection with the death of an Irish woman.

Gardaí had sought the extradition of Reverend George Exoo on charges of assisting in the suicide of Rosemary Toole in Donnybrook, Dublin in 2002.

The 65-year-old has now been released.

Mr Exoo had claimed that, although he was with Ms Toole when she died and offered her advice, he played no active part in her death.
