Five wins for RTÉ at PPI radio awards

RTÉ won in five categories of the PPI Radio Awards held in Dublin last night.

Newstalk was judged National Station of the Year, Radio Kerry won the award for Best Local Station and Phantom FM received the trophy in the Best Music Station category.

Today with Pat Kenny on RTÉ Radio One was named Best Current Affairs Programme, while Des Cahill was awarded the trophy for Sports Broadcaster of the Year.

RTÉ Radio One's broadcasts of the Ryder Cup earned it a win for Best Sport Coverage and Philip Boucher-Hayes received the News Broadcaster of the year award.

The RTÉ Radio One programme Mind Matters was given the Best Specialist Speech Programme award.
