A 48-year-old man was seriously injured in a shooting incident in Inchicore in Dublin last night.
The shooting took place at a house on Ring Street shortly before 10.30pm.
The businessman was at home with his wife and family when at least two young men called to the door and forced their way into the house.
At least two of the man's children were in the house at the time.
It is believed that the men demanded money but when the they discovered there was none in the house they shot the man once in each leg.
He was taken to St James's Hospital where he underwent surgery overnight.
The men are believed to have escaped on foot. One of the suspects is described as being 6'6'' of slim build and wearing a luminous green or yellow scarf around his face.
The second is described as 5' 11'' and was wearing dark clothing.
