Managers of the country's Catholic primary schools have decided to seek legal advice following last week's warning from the Equality Authority.

The authority warned that school enrolment policies that gave preferential treatment to Catholic children could be in breach of both the Irish and EU anti-discrimination legislation.

At a meeting this afternoon, the Catholic Primary School Management Association decided to get legal advice before advising schools.
