Galway City Council has announced that it has lifted its boil water notice in the city.

The council had issued the notice last Thursday after some water supplies were contaminated by E.coli.

Around 15,000 residents in the Knocknacarra area of the city were affected by the contamination.

The localised contamination was believed to have been due to infrastructural works in the city.
