Fishing crew rescued off south east coast

The crew of an Irish registered fishing vessel has been rescued off the south east coast after their boat caught fire just after 10am this morning.

The crew of the 'Gismonde' were winched to safety by the Search and Rescue services based in Waterford.

Four crew members were taken to Waterford Regional Hospital. They are believed to have suffered smoke inhalation.

The trawler is still on fire some 61km south east of Milford Haven.

The alarm was raised at 10.13am, but the cause of the fire is not yet known.
