Gardaí investigating the disappearance of Dublin teenager David White have confirmed that two witnesses have come forward.
It is understood they spotted one of the teenagers in the Grand Canal in Clondalkin.
The search has been suspended for the night and will resume tomorrow.
He went missing last Sunday morning along with his friend and fellow 18-year-old Shane Coughlan, whose body was found in the canal on Wednesday.
A post mortem examination has established that he died from drowning.
The two teenagers disappeared in the early hours of Sunday morning after they left a friend's house to go to a shop at a garage.
Yesterday, gardaí searched a large stretch of water from the ninth lock upstream past the Fonthill Road towards the 11th lock.
It was understood that the water search today would extend further west, possibly as far as the 12th lock of the canal.
A search of open ground close to the canal bank was also due to be carried out by gardaí.
David White's family and friends again watched the search operation.
