New figures from the Central Statistics Office show wages in the public sector are rising more than twice as fast as wages in industry.
The CSO's figures also reveal that the average public servant now earns 43 percent more than the average industrial worker does.
The average wage in the public sector grew by 9.3 percent in the year to last September - almost four times the rate of inflation during the same period.
Wages in industry rose by just 4.5 percent during that time.
