It has been announced that Britain's Prince Charles will marry his long time companion, Camilla Parker Bowles in nine weeks' time.
The engagement was announced just before lunchtime in a statement from Prince Charles's official residence in London, Clarence House.
The ceremony is to take place at Windsor Castle on Friday 8 April.
Clarence House has also ended speculation about whether Ms Parker Bowles would use the title Princess of Wales after the wedding.
It has been announced she will be known as Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cornwall.
She will also not be known as Queen Camilla when Charles becomes King, but as the Princess Consort.
The decision to marry ends years of speculation on the couple's relationship, which has spanned three decades.
Prince Charles divorced Princess Diana in 1996, a year before she was killed in a car crash in Paris.
For some time he has been seen in public with Mrs Parker Bowles.
