The High Court has granted a preliminary order to a Nigerian woman restraining the Minister for Justice, Michael McDowell, from taking any further steps to deport her.
Nomota Bamidele, who is 39, claims she will be put to death if she returns to Nigeria.
She fled the country after she was sentenced to death by stoning under Sharia law for having three children out of wedlock. She arrived in Ireland in September 2002.
Her legal team has yet to ask for leave to appeal the deportation order.
