Police in Turkey say they have foiled a bomb plot targeting a NATO summit to be held in Istanbul next month.

The meeting will be attended by the US President, George W Bush, and other Western leaders.

A Turkish television station reported that 16 people belonging to a militant Islamist group had been arrested.

It is also reported that police seized guns, explosives and 4,000 compact discs featuring training instructions from al Qaeda leader, Osama bin Laden.
