Gardaí have recovered another one of the paintings stolen from Russborough House by Martin Cahill, otherwise known as ‘the General’, 16 years ago.
Cahill's gang stole 18 paintings in May of 1986. Seven were recovered the next day. The most recent find, a Rubens painting, is called Head of a Man.
There are now just two missing paintings. Detectives from the Arts and Antiquities Unit recovered the paintings through intelligence work.
It has now been handed over to the Beit Foundation. Two other paintings were stolen from Russborough House in June of last year.
