Surgeon describes hospital on day of Omagh bombing

A consultant surgeon has described Tyrone County Hospital on the day of the Omagh bombing as the scene of a major disaster of battlefield proportions. Dominic Pinto was giving evidence in the first of the individual inquests which is taking place at the town's leisure centre.

Earlier, a pathologist who performed post-mortem examinations on 18 of those killed in Omagh said that medical treatment would have made no difference. Deputy State Pathologist, Derek Carson, said that most could not have survived their injuries.
