Information: |
'Jo Maxi' was a RTÉ series for young people which was broadcast from 1988 to 1992. Halloween (a shortening of All Hallows’ Evening) is a yearly holiday observed around the world on October 31, the night before All Saints' Day incorporates traditions from pagan harvest festivals and festivals honouring the dead, particularly the Celtic Samhain. The name 'Travellers' refers to a nomadic Irish social group. The Travellers have their own culture, identity and history. In the past Travellers worked as seasonal farm labourers, as tin smiths, horse dealers and scrap collectors. As Ireland modernised and became more urban the Travellers found their way of life changing. Travellers have been one of the most marginalised and discriminated groups in Irish society. |
