Amateur inventor and gadgeteer Laurence Ward is perfecting a device to make life easier for the lollipop man helping children cross the road.
In Ballinasloe the Lollipop Man steps into the space age.
Made from a plastic basin, light-weight tubing, and the essential words in luminous stick-on letters, Ballinasloe lollipop man Tom Madden tries the device for size.
Laurence Ward has applied for a patent on his invention and hopes to persuade local authorities to swap their lollipops for his new appliance.
