The Ulster Freedom Fighters (UFF) have killed Martin Hughes, a Catholic from Lisburn. He was shot dead on the doorstep of his home. A twenty-one-year-old friend was wounded in the attack. The UFF denied an earlier suggestion that the attack on Martin Hughes was in retaliation for the killing on Saturday of a Protestant man, William Sloss.
