The Minister for Arts Culture and the Gaeltacht announces the establishment of a training initiative for the film industry.
Over the next four years £2.58 million has been allocated to a scheme to train individuals for work in the area of film and television production. At present there is a lack of a coherent training programme to support the needs of the sector. Two thirds of those working in independent production companies and facility houses are male and the majority in the industry are over 25 years of age.
Michael D Higgins the Minister for Arts Culture and the Gaeltacht spoke to RTÉ News about the establishment of a training committee and the financial details of the scheme.
