Umbrellas are the accessory of choice for Ladies Day at the RDS Spring Show.
Thursday at the Spring Show is Ladies Day but on the show's 150th anniversary, elegantly togged-out ladies are hard to come by at the Royal Dublin Society (RDS). Wet weather sees female attendees dressing practically rather than stylishly, opting for umbrellas, raincoats and heavy jumpers.
The in thing for ladies to say today seemed to be that they didn't even know it was Ladies Day.
Despite the weather, Triona Donohoe from Castleknock in County Dublin was announced the winner of Best Dressed Woman of Spring Show 1981.
In between torrential showers, agriculturists manage to get on with judging the cattle, the big event being the Inter-Breed Cattle Championship in Ring No 3. This new competition was won by a pair of Jersey cows from Derry.
