The Limerick to Claremorris train service carries passengers for the final time.
People on the Limerick to Claremorris train are part of the end of an era when the final passenger train completes its journey.
The train service began operating in 1894 and served Limerick, Ennis, Gort, Athenry, Tuam and Claremorris.
Local community groups have protested at the closure of the line but according to CIÉ (Córas Iompair Éireann), it has been operating at a loss and is being closed for reasons of cost efficiency. The train service will be replaced by a CIÉ Expressway bus service.
