A new afternoon television show on RTÉ begins broadcasting live from the Cork studios.

The first episode of 'Today' is presented by Daithí Ó Sé and Maura Derrane and the programme will be broadcast Monday to Thursday. 'Today' promises a blend of topical conversation, light-hearted features and lifestyle segments.

Hello and welcome to 'Today', the show that gets Ireland talking.

This first edition of the 'Today' show has items on soup kitchens, the most irritating inventions, and items on food from Paul Quinn and Darina Allen. There's also €1,000 to be won each day and a car to be won in the weekly competition.

On Fridays, Norah Casey and Bláthnaid Ní Chofaigh take the reins as hosts, bringing viewers a lively mix of entertainment highlights, fashion insights, movie reviews and the latest in celebrity buzz.

Each episode features a panel of guests discussing the day's most talked‑about issues. The 'Today' show also welcomes top culinary talent, including RTÉ Guide food writer Catherine Fulvio and chef Kevin Dundon. There will be fashion experts such as Brendan Courtney among a wide variety of lifestyle and entertainment through the week.

This first episode of 'Today' was broadcast on 5 November 2012. The presenters are Dáithí Ó Sé and Maura Derrane.
