Garda advice for firms and business owners who handle cash.

With the number of armed robberies on the rise, Garda Sergeant Terry Brady provides viewers with some tips for safely and securely handling cash.

Armed robbery is becoming an increasingly serious problem.

While it is difficult to prevent armed robberies, a few simple guidelines can make it more difficult for the thieves.

The first piece of advice is to never handle large amounts of cash in public. Keep money securely locked away in a safe and do not let it build up in cash registers. Use an appropriate safe, a timelock or time delay safe means that it can only be opened at certain times of the day. All commercial premises should be fitted with an intruder alarm system and personal attack buttons connected to a central monitoring station.
