Dawn French remains backstage until Pat Kenny has apologised for once being rude to her. Driving a hard bargain, she will only appear when the presenter gets on his knees to apologise.

The insult in question referred to an appearance Dawn French made on the Kenny Live Fashion Show in 1996, where Pat Kenny offered her £10,000 not to get out of bed.
Jennifer Saunders and Dawn French first met while studying at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama when they were both training to become teachers. They shared a flat and used to make up funny characters. They decided to take part in a cabaret show at the college under the name 'The Menopause Sisters', which later evolved into 'French and Saunders'. The pair honed their act at the Comedy Store in Soho.
