Artist Bernadette Madden makes fine art using fabric, wax and dyes.
Bernadette Madden learned Batik while attending the National College of Art and Design in Dublin. The Indonesian technique involves working on natural fabric with wax and dyes. Since graduating, Bernadette Madden has earned a living as a full-time artist and loves what she does.
Taking inspiration from Celtic imagery, landscapes and religious iconography, her work can be seen across the country, including Holy Cross Abbey in County Tipperary, Saint Colmcille's Church in Knocklyon, County Dublin, St Finan's Hospital, County Kerry and the Convent of Mercy in Castlebar, County Mayo.
For those interested in painting their clothing, Bernadette Madden demonstrates the Batik process from start to finish.
