People and performers from across the country are in Saggart for a festival that celebrates the Irish language.
Oireachtas na Samhna brings people together to celebrate Irish language, culture and life and a chance to catch up with friends.
Since 1897, Oireachtas na Samhna has drawn Irish speakers together.
This year at the Citywest Hotel in Dublin the best sean nós singers, dancers, rhymers and musicians will compete. There are events for all ages, with five year old Cormac Ó Braonáin showing great promise. Many of the events will be broadcast on TG4 and Raidió na Gaeltachta. Taoiseach Enda Kenny was in attendance to launch the government's 1916 programme of Irish language events.
On the opening day, the adult lúibíní or rhyming competition attracted a large crowd and featured Ciatlín Uí Chonghaile and Jacinta Ní Chongaile from Galway, who took a humorous look at the technology we use in our everyday lives.
Liam Ó Maolaodha, Stiúrthóir an Oireachtais, describes how the festival numbers have grown in recent years.
