Two women with strong opinions on The Late Late Show moving to Friday and presenter Gay Byrne.

Unlucky for some, Friday 13th marks the return of Gay Byrne and 'The Late Late Show' to RTÉ 1. This is the first time the show had a Friday and for some time. Saturday nights will never be the same again.

Ita (Rosaleen Linehan) and Netta (Des Keogh) are the first audience members to arrive at RTÉ. As they await the arrival of the rest of the audience, the pair of gossipy women discuss the merits of the new Friday night schedule for the show. They put the empty studio down to the fact that the audience has not bothered turning up.

Having the Late Late Show on a Friday would be like having Pancake Tuesday on a Thursday.

The women blame Gay Byrne's wife, Kathleen Watkins, for the schedule change, saying she is put her foot down as Gay neglected his household chores at the weekends.

They then ridicule Gay Byrne for being tight with money, referring to him as

The miser of Montrose.

The pair continue to discuss the presenter's drinking habits, rumours about his move to US television, Saint Bob Geldof, and moving statues, before realising that they are in the wrong studio.

This episode of The Late Late Show was broadcast on 13 September 1985. The presenter is Gay Byrne.
