Rose of Tralee contestants visit Cork and kiss the Blarney Stone.

While in Cork, the twenty six young women taking part in the Rose of Tralee visited St. Patrick's Hospital. This was followed by a civic reception in the city where they met the Lord Mayor of Cork, Alderman Gus Healy and the manager of the Cork Kerry Tourism Organisation, Pat Roche.

Following the civic reception, the Roses travelled on to Blarney, where a lunch was held in their honour. and they visited Blarney Castle where the London Rose Maureen Shannon kissed the famous stone.

Maureen Shannon went on to win the competition, becoming the first Rose of Tralee from London.
