Residents of Sandymount call for the protection of the Dublin strand from industrial development.

Large numbers come out to protest against plans for a cement factory and other industrial units at the seafront in Sandymount.

The demonstration was organised by the Sandymount and Merrion Residents' Association. They marched to Sandymount Martello Tower carrying placards with messages such as Save Our Strand and Don't Leave Us Strandless.
