John B Keane has advice for men who consider themselves a good catch but are destined to remain bachelors.
From behind his bar in Listowel, County Kerry, John B Keane bemoans the number of letters he receives from,
The so-called bachelors writing to me looking for women.
He believes that their approach is wrong and demonstrates that reading aloud a letter from a single man who has spent five years trying to find a wife. The bachelor gives a brief physical description of himself, wondering if he should place a personal ad.
A letter from a second bachelor describes his living arrangements and interests,
I am 49 and have my own teeth, I would like a girl of 31 or so.
John B Keane does not sugar coat his advice. He does not think that either man has the remotest hope of finding a match. They must realise that modern women want more from a partner than they are offering, Both letter writers must move with the times, otherwise,
The only advice I can give them is prayer.
