Bernadette Devlin arrives at court to face summonses against her following disorder in Derry.

Member of Parliament (MP) for Mid Ulster at Westminster Bernadette Devlin arrives at Derry Magistrates' Court to defend herself against 13 summonses. The charges arise from incidents connected with the riots at the Bogside on 13 and 14 August 1969. It is the first day of the hearing and the MP denies all charges.

Journalists and film crews follow Bernadette Devlin as she steps from her car to the courthouse. There is an obvious military presence surrounding the building. Four female protestors carry placards with slogans such as 'The Price of her Soul - She has no Soul' and ‘Bernadette Must Continue Her State Upbringing in Armagh Gaol'.

The hearing is expected to last a week and among the witnesses to be called for the defence are John Hume MP and Eddie McAteer President of the Nationalist Party.
