Four units of Dublin Fire Brigade fight a blaze at the Dunnes Stores shopping centre in Cornelscourt.
An unexplained fire breaks out at the Cornelscourt Dunnes Stores shopping centre in County Dublin. About 100 customers and 30 staff are evacuated as the fire rips through the drapery and hardware sections of the complex. Both sections are destroyed in the blaze, but nobody is injured.
Four units of the fire brigade work under testing conditions to contain the fast-moving flames.
The supermarket on the Bray Road is one of the biggest such centres in Ireland. Founder of Dunnes Stores Ben Dunne arrives on site to survey the damage.
