A wide range of activities and exhibitions take place across the country with the aim of fostering an interest in science among young people.

Among the Science Week events is the Discover Spider Challenge where primary school children all over Ireland are being asked to report spider sightings in their homes. The findings with a particular interest in the Daddy Longlegs spider can be registered on the Science Week website. Climate change means that this distinctive creepy crawlie is becoming increasingly common in Ireland.
