Dubliners are pleased with the DART the new rail service for the city.

DART (Dublin Area Rapid Transit) commenced operation at the end of July, and in that space of time it has been used by forty three thousand passengers daily.

Commuters speaking to RTÉ News about the new Dublin commuter train service are positive, with one commenting that,

It’s given a tremendous fillip to the city.

CIÉ (Coras Iompair Éireann) estimate that the DART will transport eighty thousand people a day when fully operational next year, with a train every five minutes.

The project did not receive government funding, and cost the national public transport company an estimated one hundred and thirteen million pounds. Is it worth the money? In the main, passengers feel that it is but one lady says accessibility is an issue.

Mothers with prams and babies they can’t get through those barriers.
