Dun Laoghaire hosts a festival that features all kinds of cultures from all kinds of places.

Now in its 9th year the Festival of World Cultures brings food, music, arts and crafts from all over the world to Dun Laoghaire.

From American Folk Music to Sahaja Yoga
From Sihk martial arts to Japanese tea ceremonies.
And from Indonesian Gamelan percussion workshops to a choice of food that caters for every taste.

Jody Ackland the artistic director of the festival explains that the idea for the event is about sharing and experiencing other cultural expressions. The 600 visiting artists bring diversity, fun and atmosphere to the Dublin seaside town.

As most of the events are free of charge, the festival attracts big crowds providing a boost for local businesses. Dallan D'Estelle Roe, general manager at The Purty Kitchen, says that the festival brings visitors from around Ireland and abroad to Dun Laoghaire.
