The new World Ploughing Champion Martin Kehoe from Wexford arrives back in Ireland.

The 1994 World Ploughing Champion Martin Kehoe arrives at Dublin Airport following two days of gruelling competition in New Zealand involving 24 countries.

At that world event in New Zealand he faced the best and beat them.

Martin Kehoe, an agricultural contractor from Foulksmills in County Wexford has twelve All-Ireland ploughing championships to his name. He took the World Champion title with four points to spare.

At Dublin Airport the Wexford man holds the Golden Plough award aloft to loud cheers and applause from hundreds of well wishers. It is,

The first time an Irishman has won the title in 30 years, that was back when Charlie Keegan won it in 1964.

This was Martin Kehoe’s eighth time to compete in the world event. There are plans for bonfires at Foulksmills to welcome home their hero.
