Freezing temperatures and heavy snow make travel difficult and shut down Dublin Airport.
Thousands of passengers had their travel plans disrupted as Dublin Airport shut for several hours as a result of hazardous weather conditions.
At least one hundred flights were cancelled while snow was cleared from the runway.
The airport will reopen as soon as weather conditions improve. Anyone with travel plans is asked to contact their airline before going to the airport.
Motorists have been warned of icy conditions on many roads. Some Dublin bus routes have also been disrupted by the weather. Irish Rail say that no services were affected by the snow. The track between Bray and Gorey remains closed following a landslide earlier in the week.

Met Éireann says that the wintery conditions are the coldest experienced in the east of the country for up to thirty years.
The freezing temperatures are due to winds from Siberia and the Arctic.
The cold weather is expected to continue.
