RUC accused of breaking windows of Derry homes.

Residents of St Columb's Well in the Bogside area of Derry accuse the Royal Ulster Constabulary of breaking the windows of buildings on both side of the street during the early hours of the morning.

A man says he saw the police running amok breaking the windows on the street with their batons. An elderly woman corroborates this claim,

For I seen them with my own two eyes, for I couldn't sleep.

An elderly man says he saw a total of 400 armed police systematically breaking the windows and,

As they went along the language was atrocious.

Another man reports being woken at 2.00 am. He went outside and saw about 70 police standing at the end of the road and directing sectarian abuse at the residents. When he attempted to complain about the damage to the windows he was assaulted.
