Singers, dancers and musicians parade through Dublin dressed in traditional costumes ahead of the international folk festival.

More than 200 dancers, singers and musicians are taking part in the 13th International Folk Dance Festival at the Mansion House in Dublin from 18 – 21 September 1963.

Following a reception in the Archbishop Byrne Hall on Harrington Street the London-Irish Girls Pipe Band, taking part for the first time, lead a parade of dancers through Dublin city centre.

As well as Irish dancers the festival includes troupes from the West Indies, Sweden, Estonia and the Isle of Man, as well as an English group of Morris dancers from Stafford and a return visit of the Orlyk group of Ukrainian dancers.

Now in its 13th year the International Folk Dance Festival is organised by Irish dancing teacher Lily Comerford under the auspices of the Irish Folk Dance Society.
